Our Charity and Community Service Work

Abram's Creek Lodge and Campground is committed to helping our Appalachian Community of Mt. Storm / Elk Garden and the rural counties of Grant and Mineral in as many ways as possible. Through financial contributions, when feasible, and through fund raisers utilizing the campground facilities or through community service projects through the aid of volunteers, we will strive to make a difference in this community.

The Campground, in 2007, made the following educational cash donations:

In April 2008, Abram's Creek Lodge and Campground organized an interior re-vamp of the Rt. 50 cafe,
located 1 mile away from the campground along Rt. 50.

The interior revamp of the Rt. 50 Cafe was on behalf of Becky and Scratch Aaronhalt to give a new look and feel to the interior of this old restaurant which was beyond their means to do by themselves. The campground organized a couple of dozen volunteers and some cash (most project funding came from the campground) and completed the following projects:
  1. Took down all décor from all walls to be painted
  2. Tore down all wallpaper in all rooms incl. bathroom entrance area
  3. Primed and painted all walls, trim, and doors either crème, yellow, red, or green (purchased all paints and primer)
  4. Put down floor tiles in the bathroom entrance area hallway (about 100 tiles with 1 gallon of adhesive)
  5. Tore down wallpaper and painted men’s bathroom
  6. Painted doors in bathroom area (3)
  7. Tore down carpet from bar / counter area and painted
  8. Machine buffed all floors at project completion.
  9. Put up all new curtains at end of project Sunday (purchased 8 sets at our expense)
  10. Put up sunflower border on select walls
  11. Put up ceiling high shelving in select areas to display Becky's decor
  12. Re-hung décor on all walls at end of project
  13. Designed, purchased, and erected a large new outdoor Rt. 50 Cafe sign (double sided -contributed by Pam Kinkus of www.fastsigns.com)

The volunteers and financial contributions that came through Abram's Creek Campground were impressive and hopefully can be repeated for many more such projects in the future. Thanks to everybody who contributed their time and/or money to our endeavor.
