Basically, the idea of the drum circle is just for a bunch of drummers to get together and have a so called "jam session".  Just have fun, and drum together, and maybe even learn a few things from each other.

My name is Larry Lemons, AKA Grandolf, and I've been drumming primarily hand drums, especially djembes, and whatever other drums I can get my hands on, off and on for about 10 years  I can teach some drumming techniques although I am not the best.  I'd still consider myself an intermediate.  I was introduced to hand drumming at Lothlorien, http://www.elflore.org/ at a festival they call Elf Fest.  After the first time hearing between 20 and 40 drums in an open geodesic dome built for drumming, I was hooked.  I bought a drum within a a few years and was attending workshops at Lothlorien held by Rythmquest members and was soon drumming with them all night long.  I've attended other Lothlorien festivals, especially the Summer Solstice weekend, which was mainly held for drumming, called Thunder Feast.

Some other percussion instrument ideas are egg shakers, tambourines, etc. Anything that can be played along with drums are great.  I've seen guitars played along with the drums, but they tended to get drowned out easily. Other things to bring would be comfortable clothing, a chair or stool to sit on, if you want one, plenty of water, etc.

Hope that you can make it out.
